Major: Aviation and Aerospace
Target Audience
Are you an experienced manager looking to assume a position of leadership within the aerospace and aviation industry? If so, this Major has been designed for you. This Major will allow you to identify strategic opportunities in this dynamic sector, develop your decision-making skills and sharpen your strategic analysis.
Context
The aviation and aerospace industry has been struggling to maintain profitability following September 11th. Fears of further terrorism and a weak economy combined to deal huge challenges to the industry. Since the 1990s, the aerospace industry has consolidated into fewer but much larger firms that dominate, with several hundred suppliers competing for subcontracts. Much partnering with suppliers exists, and even the Big Five are suppliers to each other. Key trends include increased emphasis on operational efficiency, outsourcing development & manufacturing, industry consolidation & partnerships, growth of business jets, customer pricing sensitivity, oil hedging uncertainty, etc.

Structure
The Major is comprised of two sessions to take place in May and October, respectively. One session will take place in Toulouse/Paris and the other one in Montreal. Field visits will be done at relevant companies recognized for their industry leadership and innovative practices.
